How to make playdough at home

Making non-toxic fun playdough at home that will last for ages. See recipe at the bottom of the post. Basic ingredients are flour, salt, oil, cream of tarter, water, and food colouring. Lots of links to variations are also at the bottom of the post.

Mix all the ingredients according to the recipe in a saucepan.

Add food colouring and mix till smooth.

Cook on the stove on low heat until it comes together - about 2 minutes. It will thicken and become a bit lumpy at first.

Form into a ball in your hands and give it a bit of a knead.

Its all ready to use. Give kids a few basic tools such as block for a rolling pin, and some cookie cutters and plastic scissors and knife etc. and leave them to it. Lots of creativity here.
